Eco-School

DSCN0060_320x200

Glenwood House enrolled in the international Eco-Schools programme in 2004. The aim of this programme is to involve learners in working towards a sustainable and better environment for all. We became involved in many community and environmental projects in George. As a new school, we developed our school gardens and started a recycling programme.

Over the next four years we continued as an Eco-School in various ways. We joined the Adopt-A-Beach initiative and participated in street collections, Marine Week coastal clean-up days, river health projects, and provided support for the Penguin Rehabilitation Centre. We also participated in an alien tree hack, joined the Earth-hour initiative, and highlighted the current water crisis by switching our school's water supply off for a day.
