Educational Approach

_8A_0083_320x200Glenwood House is a school which adds value to the lives of pupils from Grade 000 to Grade 12. It is an independent, co-educational school that offers holistic education, which helps pupils to develop all-round skills and abilities, catering to their bodies, minds, social and emotional development and well-being, as well as for their spiritual development.

We believe that effective education cannot take place in an undisciplined environment, and therefore firm yet constructive discipline is maintained. We do not allow individuals to spoil the educational experience of others, thereby safeguarding the development of all pupils.

We teach our pupils to realise their blessings, and to be mindful of the misfortune of others, as well as to care about the people around them. Glenwood House is involved in various community projects and we endeavour to add value to the upliftment of those who are less fortunate.

Glenwood House teaches environmental awareness and is an Eco School.

We recognise that education does not only take place within the four walls of a classroom. Important life lessons are very often learnt outside the boundaries of the school. Teachers are encouraged to arrange educational activities such as tours, camps, outings, practical excursions, visits to companies, hiking trips, community service outings, etc. in order to complement the academic product.

Glenwood House promotes the family unit and teaches its pupils to respect and appreciate their parents and family members. For this reason we arrange events that the whole family can enjoy, and in this way we encourage families to bond and prosper,

Glenwood House pupils are ultimately prepared for the exit examinations of the Independent Examinations Board (IEB), a qualification which is internationally accepted. The IEB qualification is the choice of most of the top private schools in South Africa.

Our school supports nation-building and our pupils are taught to be proudly South African.
